In January, 2019, the 16th National Eagle Census was organized by MME/Birdlife Hungary in collaboration with the National Park Directorates and other NGOs.

Although they are siblings, the distance between them is about 2,000 kilometers. While one of the pair of Imperial eagles, whose path we have been following since July 2018, is currently staying close to Czech borders, the second one is in Greece.

We had a successful 5th Eagle Day in the Eagle Centre

More than 200 visitors were interested in the 5th Eagle Day, that was organized by BirdLife Hungary/MME and its partner instituion, the Hortobágy Nemzeti Park Directorate. The even was held in the Eagle Centre near Jászberény.
XVI. National Eagle Census – 11-13. January, 2019

Between the 11-13th of January, 2019, BirdLife Hungary (MME) is organizing the 16th National Eagle Census in collaboration with national park directorates and other nature conservation NGOs, in order to monitor the wintering population of birds of prey species in Hungary.

The 2018 breeding season has come to an end. Looking at the numbers we can all agree that this has been a successful year for the Hungarian imperial eagle population.
Researchers of Eastern Imperial Eagles gathered for the 8th time.

The 8th International Workshop on the Conservation of the Eastern Imperial Eagle has come to an end, BirdLife Hungary and the PannonEagle LIFE project had also helped the Russian colleauges with the organization and implementation of the event.

This year’s breeding season of Imperial eagles looked promising at its beginning. In total, birds occupied eight territories, all in southern Moravia. Sadly, only two pairs were successful and raised four chicks (two chicks each). In July, two young eagles got backpacks equipped with hi-tech GPS-GSM loggers.
